Dominick's BOGO Policy (printed on the back of the weekly Dominick's flyer)

On Buy One, Get One Free ("BOGO") offers, customer must purchase the first item to receive the second item free. BOGO offers are not 1/2 price sales. If only a single item is purchased, the regular price applies. Manufacturers' coupons may be used on purchased items only - not on free items. Limit one coupon per purchased items. Customer will be responsible for tax on the purchased and free items.

Safeway's Printable Coupon Acceptance Policy

Effective September 2008, all Safeway owned stores accept legitimate, printable manufacturer’s and in-store coupons (“Printable Coupons”) pursuant to this policy. We recently engaged Coupons, Inc. to offer Printable Coupons on www.safeway.com and the websites of other Safeway owned companies. Help us make your shopping experience a pleasant one and prevent the abuse of this program by keeping in mind the following rules applicable to Printable Coupons.

We can only accept Printable Coupons if they scan properly at the register. Printable Coupons are delivered using special software, designed to print a properly rendered barcode and limit the number printed.

It is not an industry practice and we will not accept Printable Coupons for "FREE product" (i.e., no purchase required). Buy-one-get-one-free coupons and other varieties that have a purchase requirement are acceptable.

We will not accept Printable Coupons for more than 50% of a product's value. For example, a $2 off coupon will be acceptable for a product that sells for $5 or more, but a $2 off Printable Coupon for a product that sells for $2.25 will not be accepted. If there are exceptions, we are usually provided an advance notice by the applicable manufacturer upon which we will pass the appropriate savings, if any, onto you.

Printable Coupons will be rejected if they appear to be distorted or blurry, or are altered in any way or copied. You should always print them directly from the website or email that is offering it. Printable Coupons will never appear on your computer screen or sent as a graphic, PDF or Word document.

Printable Coupons are non-transferable, and should not be copied, scanned, sold, traded, or otherwise distributed to others. They have unique serial numbers printed on them and follow an industry-standard format.

For more information about using Printable Coupons and to check for validity please visit the Coupon Resource Center online at www.printcoupons.com.

Update: Here is their policy on Super Store Coupons and "Minimum $10 purchase required" sales (may want to print and carry if you have stores that disagree, because this is spelled out extremely well on Safeway's corporate site.)

making sense of store coupons
We are always looking for new ways to help you make the most of your budget. And store coupons are a part of that effort. Store coupons are marked with the word "coupon" right after the store name. To make it easier to save with store coupons, take a look at these common questions and answers.

What is a Super Coupon?
Super Coupons bring you even more value than regular store coupons. You can identify them by the term "Super Coupon" printed on the coupon itself, or directly above a series of coupons.

What does "Limit one item per coupon" mean?
This phrase means that the coupon price is valid for one product, within one shopping trip, and cannot be duplicated on that trip. For example, if a coupon offers an 18 oz. box of Cheerios for $1.99, and states "limit one item per coupon," you can purchase just one box of Cheerios at that price on that shopping trip. At the register, just give the coupon to the checker, along with your Club Card, to receive the coupon price. If you have another copy of that same coupon, you can use it on your next shopping trip.

If you have several different coupons for several different items, you can use those coupons on the same shopping trip. However, you cannot use more than one coupon for the same item within one shopping trip.

What does "minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required" mean?
To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases before your Club Card discount is applied. This total will include the coupon item's regular price, not the discounted price. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (before coupon and before Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.

If you are using several store coupons in a shopping trip, you will only need to meet one minimum purchase requirement. For example, if you are using three coupons, and they each specify a minimum purchase requirement of $20, your minimum purchase requirement for the total shopping trip is $20, and not $60.

What does "selected varieties" mean?
Occasionally, store coupons can be used for additional flavors or varieties of products that are not specified on the coupon. For example, if a 2-liter bottle of Coke is shown on a coupon with a "selected varieties" message, Diet Coke will also be eligible for the coupon discount. If you have any questions regarding what "varieties" are eligible for the coupon price, please see a store customer service representative.

Expired IPs

So will they take expired IPs? I hate when I print them out but then don't or can't use them before they expire. If Dom's will take them, I won't have to shred them.

Should

According to this... they should.

Cats?

Will Doms accept competitors cats?

The one I go to says they don't. However, at the self checkout the Cats will scan but require authorization due to the high value. The clerk came over and told me that it could only be used at Wags, as it says on the Cat.

Any suggestions?

Jewel cat

I went to the CL store yesterday. The first thing I did when I walked in was walk over to the customer service desk to see if they would accept a manufacturer cat from Jewel. And she said they would.I don't know if it is just this location or if they all do.

Same here

I too had no problems redeeming Jewel manufacturer coupons (Ice Mountain, Smart Balance, etc) at Dominick's -- and the store will be reimbursed for those coupons, so there's really no reason that they shouldn't accept them.

Walgreens

For a while, most of the grocery stores would accept Walgreens Cats. That seems to be changing. But in my experience, the Catalina coupons ($1 off Purina, etc) will interchange fine between our area grocery stores as long as they're manufacturer coupons.

The policy above is actually an old Dominick's policy. The new one is much shorter and less wordy - I need to post it. But it does not specifically mention competitors' Catalinas either.

Dominick's Flip Flops Again

The Dominick's on Dundee in Palatine will not take Jewel catalinas. Guess where I won't be shopping? Their corporate office I spoke with this morning 877-723-3929 said it's up to the manager's discretion. What kind of policy is that?

That's the problem

That is the problem with Dominick's -- corporate will tell you the stores don't actually have to follow their coupon policy & can make up their own rules, for the most part -- very frustrating for us. I would much prefer a more detailed "we'll take this, but not that" kind of policy so we would KNOW...

Calvinball

Any one remember Calvinball? You make up the rules as you go, and never play the same way twice.

miss C & H

Good one J.R.! Loved that strip and Calvinball, too. Perfect analogy. I miss Calvin and Hobbs. Not the same feeling I have when I haven't been in a Dominick's for a while, though. (Although the Crystal Lake one has fantastic employees. I love Ann at the CS desk!)
