If you haven't seen the Dominick's flyer, Kellogg's Cocoa Krispies are going to be $.99 Friday, Saturday and Sunday, limit one. Use the $1 Cocoa Krispies to take it home for free. It's in the 06/07 RP.
I purchased a box this morning through the self checkout and all I paid was $.01! I tried purchasing another box through the regular checkout later(on my boyfriend's card) and the cashier refused to enter in the coupon as $.99 (it's exactly $1 off), so I just didn't take it. I'm going back later--through the self checkout.
Avoiding Dominics personnel
Thank you for the great tip!
I bought 3 boxes of cereal in 3 separate transactions and yes, I paid 1 cent for each of them.
In my Dominics in Elmhurst (St. Charles & 83rd rd) they adjusted self check line: cash register beeps every time someone uses a coupon (doesn't matter what is the coupon value).
(I know for a fact, not all Dominics self-checkout lines work this way. I was in Chicago yesterday and didn't have this problem (beeping).
So, to avoid nasty conversation with cashier, I use self-check line.
1) I scan the cereal.
2) I scan the coupon -- Cash register beeps and requests assistance.
3) Customer assistant comes and looks at my coupon. She types the coupon amount without any arguing.
4) I scan my preferred card after cashier left.
5) I pay only 1 cent. Although the tax should be 2 cents.
6) I am happy, because I avoided cashier aggravation.
Beeping at the self-checks
I, too, bought a few of the cereals yesterday and had the beeping trouble. One of the young managers told me that the coupons with the double UPC codes (the one with the broken marks) can't be read by any of the Dominick's machines. He told me to just fold the coupons over so that only the "old-fashioned" bar code could scan. Sure enough, I tried it with the next two orders and no beeps and no troubles. From now on this is the way I'll go for sure. Unfortunately, this won't help with the Jewel self-check machines.
cschelthoff - great info, thanks
I've been doing a bunch of these deals the last few days and 75% refused to push thru the coupon until I talked to either the CS or manager who told me to tell them to push it thru at $.99. After getting that OK they then all knew how to push it thru for $.99. BUT tonight I did cschelthoff method and had no problems using my $1 coupon at the USCAN. I did 3 seperate orders in about 1 minute - THANKS
Krispies
I am a clipper so I was trying to find the right coupon. Is it $1 off that expires July 19th. Pictures on coupon are mini wheats, little bites, crispix and rice krispies. It shows regular rice krispies. Does the coupon work on the Cocoa krispies?
No
In the same insert, two over from that coupon, is the $1 Cocoa Krispies coupon.
(this is the reason I could never go back to clipping them all..! I know there are still a die-hard few on the blog who do. :) It was so easy to flip open and find the right one.)
Thanks for posting
I went in for trash bags today and grabbed these too. Be aware that the $1 coupon isn't scanning automatically (overage) and you may need to ask them to adjust it down.
Also, it truly is "limit 1" - I saw someone in the next lane with 3 boxes and only the first one scanned rang up at .99.
Anytime you have coupons over
the actual price of the item, I would just buy another item to cover the overage instead of the second thoughts they have about downsizing the amount they have to deduct. Otherwise you have the clerk scrutinizing over it and trying to recall his/her coupon 101 class they just took last week...again. Which by the way at Dominicks, I'm sure they are confusing as heck because of the way they keep interpreting their own rules. The only person that has to know you got a good deal at the time of sale, is you. I know... I'm tempted to scream and shout at the checkout line I was paid to take something home. But there is a time and place for that...in front of your spouse and right here :)
Thanks!
I did not know this. Thanks for teaching me something! Sadly my cashier didn't even know she could do it. She didn't even think it was a possibility. Oh well. Thanks for the tip!
Seems most wont push thru the penny overage
I went to 3 doms today and only 1 self checker helper pushed it thru for me and the others refused. Luckily I had some $.70 coupons that expired in April which I used.
Does anyone know the date and which group those $.70 coupons are from???
Crispies
Most of Dominicks ads you have to buy $20 of stuff to use coupons. Was this one that you did not have to do thi?
Per the website
it's "just" a sale - no $20 strings attached!
Mmmmm...
Sounds like a good time to try Cocoa Krispie Treats that I've heard raves about, given all of the marshmallows I have on hand! :)
Thanks for the tip! I've been skipping the Dom's ad.
I picked up 2 of these on
I picked up 2 of these on Saturday, two sep transactions with a cashier at the Doms in Glen Ellyn on Roosevelt.....needed a couple onions too so I picked up the smallest bulk onion I could find to go with each transaction and paid just a few cents total....no hassle, got the overage....the cereal is destined to go with the daughter to college with a couple 17 cent boxes of Raisin Bran I picked up a couple months ago. If she doesn't like the Krispies when she tries it for breakfast this week the other box goes to the food pantry with a bunch of roll on deoderant and misc items I'm saving for a drop off and the barely opened Krispies box will go to the kids across the street who eat chocolate day in and day out. Thank you for posting these freebie deals, even if they are just for one or two items.....helps people out in a big way, not just for us who are still working some hours.....but for those under incredible hardship as well.
