Hi, I just finished watching Jill's DVD. Wow it is a ton of great info. Anyway, so I go to Walgreens to try it out. The cashier wouldn't let use a coupon on my free item in a B1G1F offer. I thought Jill said I could do this. Was that only at jewel? Anyone know where I might find some info on this? I looked all over this site and it looks like a bunch of stores do their own thing.
Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks!
Depends on the store
This is a hit or miss situation with the B0G0 coupons. If you get denied at one store go to another. There are so many Walgreens that you don't have to travel far for the next one.
Pretty sure that...
it was mentioned not that long ago that walgreens had changed their policy on using two coupons in a B1g1 scenario. DVD had been finished already I'm guessing.
Actually not
No, many Wags still do accept a B1G1F on a B1G1F sale. We've been unable to get a definitive policy out of Wags, but I've done this as recently as last month on makeup.
Did it today
on 14 cans of Blue Diamond Almonds BOGO and threw in 3 of the handy carmels so I could use 3 RR's and pay only 1.40 for the order. You can make lots of friends giving away those carmels to the checker.
BOGO
I've always used BOGOs with coupons in my various Walgreens, last time with the Rimmel mascara deal. As always, it depends upon your cashier and management.
Worked for me TODAY in Warrenville
Today I bought 2 Loreal makeups BOGO and used 2 $2 off coupons. They both rang through without a hitch. However, make sure you are spending enough money to cover any overage, because that will throw a kink in your deal.
Never been able to us BOGO
on a BOGO sale from Wags in my area. Sometimes having two higher valued coupons to be applied for each item for these sales comes out to be about the same.
CL does
Dancing--the Crystal Lake Wags. has allowed me to use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale. Give them a try if you haven't already.
Rosalie who works nights in the cosmetic dept. is the nicest woman there! We always have a nice chat. And while she's not a super-couponer, she's very coupon friendly. She even gave me some coupons for razors a while back. I've also given her some coupons, too. She's the best.
I agree- Let's hear it for Rosalie!
Rosalie is the best, you're right.
And she is somewhat of a super-couponer. I too, have shared my coupons with her and told her of some of the Jewel deals, which she put into action.
But her customer centered practices is what I notice most about Rosalie. She is helpful and polite, friendly and patient with me and my transactions. What a valuable employee Wags has in her.
A few years ago I decided that there were too many complainers around and not enough people complimenting good work and deeds when they saw them. Negativity abounds!
Ever since, I have been writing letters of commendation to businesses to help them note what good things their employees are doing, and Rosalie is one whom I have written about to her store manager.
It should work
I have never had a problem with this. Make sure you hand over the coupons after all of the items have been rung up. They should go through no problem.
Anyone?
Anyone?
Like Dominicks
From what I remember, Wags is like Dominicks where they view the "free" item as one coupons aren't to be used against. If the store has a BOGO sale, you could use one cents off coupon but not two of them and not a manufacturer's BOGO Q. I thought the iheartwags site used to have this up but can't find it now.
You could always contact Wags and ask them to e-mail you the latest corporate policy on this or do like others mention and try different locations until you find the most coupon friendly one.
Even when stores have customer friendly coupon policies, lack of employee training may turn the trip into a non-customer friendly one.
My experience
At Wag's and other stores, it has been my experience that it depends on the location, the cashier, and the cashier's mood that day. I do not confront people well, so I would rather leave than point out the coupon policy. However, compared to how many times I have had no problems, the few times there is a problem are no big deal. I, too, suggest you try a different Wag's or even go back to the same one at a different time of day to see if it works with a different cashier. And if you have a choice, try to choose the youngest cashier - in my experience, most younger cashiers are either impressed or totally neutral about the deals you are doing. Good luck!
Never had a problem until today!
Actualy, I used 4 coupons on the "free" shampoos for the Dove B1G1 deal last week at Palatine/NW Hwy Wags. NO PROBLEMS!! No beeps, nothing. Paid $15 with tax oop & got $17 RRs back after all my purchases & coupons.
Husband this morning went to use 2 coupons on the Emerald Nuts sale - basically got chided by both the cashier & manager for trying to use a coupon on a free item. Denied.
After 11 months of couponing with this Wags, we finally got a rather chilly reception of trying to buy items there!!! So, I guess it really does depend on the mood of the cashier & manager!!
Manager gave a response!
My husband e-mailed corporate with the complaint about the assistant manager (I thought it was the manager when he shared the story), the manager e-mailed him back saying the asst. manager absolutely should have made an override on the B1G1 purchase that day. And, he sent along a $10 gift card for his trouble!! Wow. We weren't expecting ANYTHING back, e-mail or otherwise!!
Wags. & coupons
Unfortunately, Walgreens seems to be allowing stores to make some of their own rules, or to interpret the coupon policy the way they want to. For example, some Walgreens stores allow you to use a BOGO coupon when there is a BOGO sale resulting in you getting 2 items and paying for none. Other Wags don't allow it.
If there is another Walgreens in your area, I'd try to see if they will accept your coupon. You might also contact corporate to see if they will shed some light on this for you. I'd suggest writing an email so you could print out coporate's answer and take it with you (assuming the answer is the one you want).
Good luck.
Wags
Last year I called corporate and they told me at Walgreens they let the managers make up the rules. I never could do it at Walgreens and the managers got nasty. At CVS they do have a policy of using bogo Q's on bogo sales. I had to call corporate there too a year ago after a bad episode with a cashier and asst mgr. I haven't had a problem at Jewel either.
Still are corporate polciies in place
I've ran into this before with Walgreens corporate. It's like the first answer they come up with although there are official policies. I'm guessing it's the policy against perceived counterfeit coupons where the individual store can say no. They're probably also so tired of Register Rewards not printing issues with store employees botching this up with multiple excuses.
However there are official Walgreens coupon polcies which makes sense or customers would be more ticked off than ever if a simple legitimate cents off coupon is fine at one store and not another store due to a store employees personal issues.
You just need to ask for corporate to escalate this and the store or district manager will help you out.
