According to the the Dominick's on Randall Road in Geneva, a minimum purchase of $20 is defined as -The total amount that needs to be paid AFTER all coupons and promotions have been subtracted. Meaning at the end of your purchase you are required to still owe $20 OOP. I'm a newbie but I did not think that was the policy. They were "so kind" to let me use my coupons even though my OOP was only $18.75. The checker said that if the policy wasn't that way people would come in here and merely pay a nickel. Then I got a lecture on how Dominicks is the only one to take other stores cats. I wonder what she would have done if I pulled out my walgreens cats. No wonder the store was empty and there were only 2 checkers, not even busy.
Am I crazy to think that a $20 minimum purchase means that the items bought need to total $20 before all the coupons. I may be wrong, I'm confused.
To top it off , my Tide ecoupon thru P&G didn't appear on my receipt.
I posted the exact SAME thing happening a few weeks ago
Probably the same cashier too. UGH. They still don't get it. I bumped it so you can compare notes!
Very very aggravating!!!
No Kidding
I just noticed you said a few weeks ago. I replied to the post you bumped thinking that it just happened today. You mean to tell me that even though these cashiers were corrected weeks ago, they still are pulling this stuff? Now I'm mad again.
?
What is with these employees worried that a customer will pay a nickel when the coupons will reimburse the store in full?
tongue in cheek
Didn't you know cg1 that the coupons a customer redeems actually comes out of the cashier's paycheck?!!??!!!
Absolutely untrue

It clearly states that the $20 minimum purchase is based on the NON sale prices. This is on their corporate website!
The checker said that if the policy wasn't that way people would come in here and merely pay a nickel.
Well, they would buy whatever they needed (on regular prices) to get over $20, just as their policy says.
Kind of like I did last week when the .99/lb. meat deal was running - the big packages of pork chops were regular price $29.89, sale price $5.83. For every package I bought, I split those orders on the belt and also used the Super Coupons to buy the cheap eggs, orange juice, etc -- and the register accepts it fine, because the $20 number IS off regular prices.
My total for the meat, eggs and juice was under $9 each time - nowhere near $20 after sales/coupons.
I'm really not crazy!
Thank you for the replies. I haven't been in a Dominicks for years, but now that I was led to your site by a friend I tried it again. The checkers looked at me like I was nuts when I suggested that the policy they were trying to sell me on was wrong. Now I know to bring a copy of the real policy with me.
min. $20 before coupons & before sale price
Jill puts this at the Dominick's section in the "Deals for [date]" each week:
"A note on Dominick's Super Coupons: All of the Super Coupons require a total purchase of $20 or more to use. But, the "Minimum $20 purchase" applies to the REGULAR, non-sale price of those items. Really! It's even spelled out very well on Safeway's corporate site:
What does "minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required" mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases before your Club Card discount is applied. This total will include the coupon item's regular price, not the discounted price. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (before coupon and before Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.
So, knowing this, getting over that $20 mark isn't as hard as it seems. Mix and match what you like, and remember too that if you work any other items into your trip from this week's deals, they too will count toward your $20."
If you want to conitinue to shop at Dominick's, you would do well to carry a copy of the coupon policy each time you visit them and take it out if you have troubles again.
