I was just wondering where everyone gets their honey. I never seem to see it on a fantastic deal.
Also, Dominicks used to sell bulk spices (in prepackaged plastic bags) in their produce section, but they have long discontinued it. It was such a good deal by weight for the spices that I use the most. Does anyone have any idea where I can get spices at good prices?
HONEY @WALGREENS
LILY
Walgreens has honey on sale 32 oz. $3.99 Good price especially if you have Cats starts tomorrow . Its their brand so don't know how great it is :)

Walgreens has a $5 off coupon on $25 post coupons ! So get your honey free , If you had others items !!!!
"how great it is"
Isn't honey honey? (Or could 'generic' brands possibly be made by some inferior bees?) :)
YEA REALLY
Just like sugar is sugar all tastes the same :)
honey quality?
Hey, if I'm going to eat bee barf, I want it to be the best quality barf there is!
Stretch - you are
Stretch - you are hysterical!!
Hope I can find a coupon for a new keyboard
cause I just snorted coffee all over this one!!!
Get one of those flexible
Get one of those flexible silicone keyboards. They are totally sealed, washable, and immune to coffee, soda, & beer.
I just wish I could find one without the design flaw that they all seem to have: dead keys next to the space "bar" that feel like you hit a key but don't do anything.
The Home Economist
It you are near a Home Economist (I know there is one on Cass Avenue near Darien) they are awesome for bulk spices.
Great prices and the ability to buy a tiny amount for a recipe that uses something that you might not need again.
COUPON!
There's usually a $1 off $10 coupon for the Home Economist in the Wednesday Tribune food section.
bummer!
I don't get the Wednesday edition! I'd actually use that too - I have literally 1 peppercorn left in my grinder - one! Oh well.
Peppercorns...
The cheapest peppercorns I see are at CVS. I think they're .99 everyday and occassionally go on sale for .88/.77. I stock up when they do.
Phone a friend
You must have a friend or neighbor that has one...
I rarely use mine, since when I stop there, it's usually just a couple bucks of stuff I'm buying: whatever is on their clearance pallets that week.
HE - Darien
I go to this store all the time for odd ball spices (and a few not-so-oddball - like pepper and cinnamon). It is located on Cass Av. just south of 63rd on the West side.
Home Economist is owned by
Home Economist is owned by San Fillipo / Fisher nuts.
I think there's still one on Rt 14 in Barrington, and their warehouse outlet is on Randall right by I90.
At the warehouse store, I've noticed that most of the packaged stuff is MORE expensive than normal retail channels, but the bulk stuff and pallets of clearance items are good deals. When I was recently out of peanut butter, they had 40oz jars for $2.50.
They do have bulk honey. But I usually buy it in a 5# jug (about the size of a half gallon of milk) at Woodmans. Can't recall the price, but like so many things honey has gone up a LOT the past couple years.
Bolingbrook-ish outlet too ...
Can't give specific address, but I've been there a couple of times (just know it by general location ) ... on Busse a bit south of the Oakton/Busse/Higgins horrible intersection, on the East side of the road. NICE selection of goodies always :-)
Penzey's for spices
I absolutely love the quality of Penzey's spices. There are stores but you can also order online or from a catalog. Their quality can't be beat. Their prices are very good, but not the steal you'll get at Sam's Club, Costco, and the like. But spices are an area that I'm not willing to sacrifice flavor for price if I can still get a decent price.
I have tried a lot of their products and really the only ones I haven't liked are their black peppercorns and their Italian Seasoning mix. Their Viatnamese and Chinese Cassia cinnamons and their vanilla beans can't be beat!! Lots of other terrific spices, too, but these are ones that I use often.
You can find them at www.penzeys.com.
last time i went to Sam's
last time i went to Sam's they had a HUGE 5lb thing of honey for $10\
Costco has it too i think
honey
hi i just bought some honey for me and my mom at walgreen's about 3 week's ago it was 24 0z for 3.99 .
Mel-O Honey at Wags
I read on hip2save that wags has Mel-O honey. There is a $1 off pdf printable at melooffers.com
I think it's the one dr mentions that was 3.99
I've got the Q but I keep forgetting to look for the honey
Caputos and Joseph's or any
ethnic store usually has bulk. If I use a spice quite a bit....I go to Sam's club and pick up a big container for under $6. It's one of the few things I do buy at Sam's.
Costco & Meijer & Trader Joe's
I buy my most-used spices at Costco (or Sam's) ... Meijer has the bagged ones like others have said - I usually get my rosemary there.
Trader Joe's actually has some nice prices on some spices that I haven't found in bulk (WHEN I NEED THEM) at Costco or Sam's, like Dill Weed - bought a nice large jar for ~$2.19 instead of over $4 at either Dom's or Jewel - even with coupons!
Meijer
Meijer has those bagged spices (by the produce). Usually really good deals compared to buying the small containers in the spice aisle!
