I went to Jewel this morning to load up on Paper Towels. After not receiving my Catalina's they told me they changed the rule last night. They said you now have to spend $30 based on the Preferred Price. I went last night as well, and didn't get my $15 catalina's because they said some items go by preferred price while others go by non-preferred price. However, they didn't know which items were what. Is this now true?

It is the Jewel on 103rd and Cicero that is now requiring a $30 purchase. The manager stated that all the Jewel store will be changing so that people would have to purchase that actual amount stated and that this Jewel had alraedy changed over as of Nov. 11th.

They all say that, FYI. This is a hot topic on here with every Catalina deal. Jill says they've been saying that for 5 years. Hasn't changed. Just keep doing your thing. They can't change it for just one store...with that said, you still shouldn't go to CS if your cats don't print.
$15 on next $150 shopping trip?
Today I shopped the buy $30 get the $15 catalina, which I did...but, when I got home I noticed the catalina was for $15 off my next shopping trip of $150. Anyone know what might have gone wrong? I bought only the items from the ad in the flyer.

That is interesting because I did 2 deals tonight at 2 different Jewel food stores, and I had my standard catalina's print. No minimum- no funny business.
Every time there is a great promotion going on, someone thinks the sky is falling, and they will stop doing them. This is pretty ridiculous. Google catalina marketing- they are a big company! EVERYONE wins in these deals (except for the sour grapes who feel the urge to whine to Jill). Uniliver, P&G, etc Catalina to create these coupons. Jewel gets paid to print and administer the program. More people shop for them. Some customers even leave them in the carts and do not use them. The moral of the story is that EVERYONE wins (except for the sour grapes that did not get papertowels)! These are not going anywhere ladies and gentelmen. I am in marketing. You all using these coupons are what keep companies like Catalina in business and business is brisk. SO...The world will not spin off its axis if "too many people" are issued and redeem catalinas, and it certainly will not spin off its axis if someone took your cheesy rice (90 of them) papertowels (70 of them) soup (1 billion of them) and they donated them to the food pantry ( really quite rude of them don't you think?) which resulted in others not being able to buy them. Thank you for letting me rant. Now take a deep breath and keep on shopping :)

Wonderful post. Catalinas to me are almost like gift cards for the these companies. They issue these when you buy the right products and then pray to the "end-of-the-year-bonus-gods" that you lose them, forget about them, destroy them, or use them and buy extra stuff at the specific store.
Once again, just because the people on this blog are doing these deals, does not mean 50% of the population are doing these deals. Look around in people's carts. In my Woodridge Jewel, I rarely see ANYONE else doing these deals.

I posted earlier this year that once everyone found out about all these deals that the companies would catch on and change them. My Jewel in Oak Lawn now requires you to spend the $30. The customer service desk has said that there was a glitch in the system and now it has been changed. I guess the good time are now over at Jewel!

Did you actually try any of the deals after they told you that? Sounds like another Jewel employee making up stories as to why a cat didn't print. I am pretty sure that all the Jewels run the same way and that one Jewel cannot decide to run that cat deal off the preferred price of $30. We've heard this all before, so don't be too quick to believe it.

Aurora Lake street location had about 20 rolls or scott paper towels as of about 11:30 this morning. I couldn't believe my eyes!
Paper Towels and Knorr
Just got done doing my deals this morning, $8 oop for about $250 worth of groceries so I'm happy. Just a heads up that the Danada Jewel does have the individual Scott rolls on the shelf, probably about 30 there as of 1/2 hour ago. Also, the registers were spitting out a $1.50 cat for more Knorr rice when I bought it.

I was looking at the add starting on the 12th and noticed that it said spend 20 get 5 back on your next shopping trip. In fine print it says one coupon per customer. Does this mean that you can only do one deal per preffered card? Did the catalina company change their policy due to the paper towel chaos? Jill do you have any idea what has happened?

Match Up Coupons
I'm pretty new to this and have a question. Can I use the match up coupons available for the Jewel deals and still recieve the $15 catalina coupon or will it affect it? Sorry for probably sounding dumb but like I said I am new to this and just trying to get w/the program.

Yes, the $30 mark is PRE coupon. Coupons don't affect it, and in fact work in our favor so we can pay much less than $30 and still get the $15 back.
Stop the classes for awhile...
Jill, Maybe you should stop holding classes for awhile. Eventually with so many people doing this, the stores, will catch on and change their policies.. Thus their will be no more deals..

I've never been to one of Jill's classes and know about these deals. They're on numerous shopping sites. You'll even notice the spreadsheets posted here are from some of those other sites.
What needs to occur are the stores who don't know how to handle the deals should contact Jill for advice. Jill's Jewel which works with her seems to have no problems running these deals.

Of the many bizarre messages I've received over the past week, the idea of taking a hiatus from my job so people can get more paper towels absolutely takes the cake.
How about suggesting the store warehouse orders more in anticipation of the deals? We knew as soon as we looked at that ad that paper towels would be the big movers. Why don't the stores learn to look at the ads the same way we do?

I totally agree...I am so frustrated about the paper towels I could scream. I went out today ad saw a Fairhaven us parked in the park parking lot on 23rd today. They probably loaded up that whole bus with Jewel cat items. It makes me want to scream! They DO need to be doing special orders. And I have no problem whatsoever with telling them that to their faces.

I had the same issue yesterday, purchased 16 PT no cat. I just kept the purchase and took them home and figured I would call Catalina and see if I qualified...figured if they were the wrong UPC I would just suck it up and keep them. I called (they are very nice on the phone) he explained systems were rebooting during my purchase and would be sending me my coupons in the mail. So possible this happened to others yesterday? I purchased mine yesterday at 9am.

Don't complain to CS or call Cat. unless you did spend out of pocket $30 pre coupon. So much noise on this ,We have had this bonus for a long time a giant extra perk from shopping on these type of deals . But now it changed over to demanding and rudeness and wasting peoples time calling for cats. they no they didn't really quailfy for . You all are going to cause such a disturbance that they will stop completely or find away that it will work correctly :(

I am calm!!! If you have been with Jill for a long enough time ,you would know that you are never to call the catalina company unless you really have spent the $30 . In this case and many others they HAVE NOT . We are not suppose to keep drawing the attention that we are getting them off prefered . All she had to do was get a refund and do it again .And when anyone post's they are calling even some put the 800 number up wow ,Thats just stirs up a frenzy of every one that didn't get their cat. What makes me feel so bad is that people expect the cats if they are entittled or not ! This really ruins it for every body in time :( :(

I compeletely agree Joan. I had a deal go wrong. Even at home I double checked my receipt and products. I was over the $30 and should have gotten my cat. I took one for the team and didn't say anything. I'm grateful for the deals I've gotten and will not ruin it or draw attention to the way it's done at Jewel. I'm new to all this and would hate it to end when I just started.

if we should be calling catalina about the cats. Jill please clarify. I have called in the past and always have asked nicely if they can check what happened to the cats I thought I should receive. I have always gotten them in the mail. I have one I have to call I never received the 4.00 cat on the pillsbury deal. I misplaced the receipt and just found it.
Also, someone posted you can fill out the form online. Is that true?

and that's what I'm trying to tell you. In your initial response to mamagatz, I agree with what you said. Why can't she call Catalina? I have asked Catalina if you need to have a preferred card to get the catalinas back when you spend $30 and they said no, you don't. In other words, you should get the cats whether you use a preferred card or not. That tells me that getting to $30 the black belt way, using non-preferred prices, should still get you a cat and even the Catalina company has said this. So why can't a person call when they don't get it? They truly are supposed to get one and "Frank" at the Catalina company even confirmed this.

as in all these deals...the store WANTS you to go off the preferred price...that's what they state in their sale flier...now that so many are going off the shelf price,,it's calling alot of attention to this happening..so many people calling,,and granted many SHOULD have rec'd their CATS...but then there are some that mess up the totals,,,and THEN call catalina. and yes,,,it DOES go off shelf price,,BUT Jewel companies put out their preferred price., and THAT is how they make $$$$. So now with everyone not doing that (going off the preferred price),,,Catalina will definitely start realizing this,,,and put a stop to it...it's all just a matter of time and we ALL lose..

my guess is that catalina's able to keep track whether we call or not.....they have records of the receipts and are able to see what someone is paying OOP even if they don't call in to the company.
you don't know how many people might be calling in regards to walgreens , domincks, or paying the full preferred amount at jewel..... either way when catalina goes offline lots of people from all different stores lose out on their deals ......

we don't qualify based on jewel's advertising BUT the catalina company, for whatever reason, has jewel's system set up this way to work off the NPC pricing and if catalina is down during the time that i may do a deal and my cat doesn't print and it wasn't error on my part, why should i suck it up?
i'm not in to throwing my money away and if i call catalina and they say yes our system was offline during your order, they still check my receipt to make sure that i purchased the correct items.

Jill when I don't get a cat. I either return it or keep it and just remember all the ones I did get. All this time I have been under the impression that we never called the cat. co . unless we really were suppose to get one . Or even mention this to CS ,Just polietly ask for a refund . Please want to know so I can relax when I hear all these shoppers complaining about no cats , Got to call the co. and tell them :(
It might be that one of the Scotts had a different upc
I bought 24 of the PT in 3 different orders (at different stores) and noticed that one of my towels had a upc that was not on the list. I bought a mix of the pick a size and the prints and when I was going thru my cart to make sure everything matched the list, I found that oddball one with the different upc.
I think it might have been older packaging since it looked a little different but maybe that's why some of you have been having problems with the Scotts. Just a thought. I ended up putting that one back and grabbing another one with the confirmed upcs on the list. I got my cats for all 3 of my orders.

I happened to find some Scott PT for the 1st time this sale so I added 4 rolls to my attempted black belt 60/30 transaction (had a mix of other items in deal). I even scanned all the items beforehand to arrive at 63 but was later bummed to only get 15 cat. Puzzled, I checked the UPC's when I got home and sure enough the Scott UPC (5400016448) was slightly different & not on list even though I paid the preferred price in ad & it's identical to pic in ad. Oh well, you win some, you lose some! Figured still not bad to pay about 16 net (after Q's & 15 cat) for 42 in preferred price total.
